# Find and Filter Assets

Use AssetIQ search and filters to locate individual assets or create a focused list of matching asset records.

The assets available in your results depend on your role, organisation, entity, location and other access permissions.

## Open the asset list

1. Sign in to AssetIQ.
2. Open **Asset Management** from the sidebar.
3. Open the asset list.
4. Wait for the permitted asset records to load.

## Search for an asset

1. Locate the search field on the asset list.
2. Enter an asset name, number, serial number or another supported keyword.
3. Run the search if it does not start automatically.
4. Review the matching records.
5. Select the required asset to open its details.

Use a specific identifier when several assets have similar names.

## Filter the asset list

1. Open the available filter controls.
2. Select one or more relevant filter values.
3. Apply the filters if required.
4. Review the filtered results.
5. Confirm that each displayed asset matches the selected conditions.

Available filters may depend on your AssetIQ configuration and permissions.

## Use search and filters together

You can use a keyword and filters together to narrow the results further.

For example, you might search for part of an asset name and then filter the results by location, category or status.

## Clear the search and filters

To return to the complete permitted asset list:

1. Remove the text from the search field.
2. Clear each selected filter.
3. Select **Clear**, **Reset** or the equivalent available action.
4. Confirm that the complete permitted asset list is restored.

## An expected asset is missing

If an expected asset does not appear:

- Check the spelling of the search term.
- Clear all active filters.
- Search using a different identifier.
- Confirm that the asset belongs to your permitted entity, location or department.
- Ask an administrator to review your access if the asset should be visible.

## The results appear incorrect

If the results do not match the selected filters:

1. Clear all filters.
2. Refresh the asset list.
3. Apply one filter at a time.
4. Record the search term and selected filters.
5. Contact your AssetIQ administrator if the problem continues.
