The AssetIQ next maintenance date helps users understand when an asset is expected to require its next scheduled maintenance activity.
After a qualifying work order is completed, AssetIQ calculates or updates the next maintenance date using the approved maintenance rule and configured interval.
Why the next maintenance date matters #
Reviewing the next maintenance date helps your organisation:
- Plan preventive maintenance.
- Reduce unexpected asset downtime.
- Identify upcoming maintenance requirements.
- Coordinate assets, resources and maintenance teams.
- Maintain reliable maintenance schedules.
- Confirm that completed work updated the asset correctly.
The next maintenance date should always be reviewed after completing a qualifying maintenance activity.
Before you begin #
Make sure that:
- The asset exists in AssetIQ.
- The maintenance interval has been configured.
- The relevant work order has been completed.
- The work order is linked to the correct asset.
- Completion information has been saved.
- You have permission to view the asset and its maintenance information.
How the next maintenance date is determined #
The next maintenance date is based on the approved maintenance configuration.
Depending on the configured rule, the calculation may use information such as:
- The completed maintenance date
- The configured maintenance interval
- The maintenance type or schedule
- The asset’s maintenance settings
- Other approved scheduling information
Do not publish a specific calculation formula unless it has been confirmed against the current AssetIQ configuration.
Review the date from the asset record #
- Sign in to AssetIQ.
- Open Asset Management.
- Search for the required asset.
- Open the asset record.
- Locate the maintenance or scheduling information.
- Find the next maintenance date.
- Confirm that the displayed date reflects the recently completed maintenance activity.
Before publishing this article, confirm the exact tab or field name used by the current AssetIQ interface.
Review the completed work order #
- Open Maintenance or Work Orders.
- Search for the completed work order.
- Confirm that it is linked to the correct asset.
- Review the actual completion date.
- Confirm that the final status and completion details have been saved.
- Return to the asset record.
- Review the next maintenance date again.
Verify the calculated date #
To verify the result:
- Identify the completed maintenance date.
- Confirm the approved maintenance interval.
- Apply the documented maintenance rule independently.
- Compare the expected date with the date shown in AssetIQ.
- Record or report any difference.
For example, if the approved rule is based on a completed date plus a configured interval, confirm that AssetIQ used the correct completion date and interval.
Use the actual approved rule configured for your organisation.
The date did not update #
If the next maintenance date remains unchanged:
- Confirm that the work order reached the required final status.
- Check that the actual completion date was saved.
- Confirm that the work order is linked to the correct asset.
- Check that a maintenance interval is configured.
- Confirm that the completed work order qualifies for the calculation.
- Refresh or reopen the asset record.
- Ask the maintenance coordinator or administrator to review the configuration.
Do not manually change the date until the cause has been identified.
The calculated date appears incorrect #
If the displayed date does not match the expected result:
- Confirm the completed maintenance date.
- Review the configured interval.
- Check whether the correct maintenance type was selected.
- Confirm that another completed work order did not update the date.
- Review the asset’s maintenance configuration.
- Record the expected and displayed dates.
- Ask the responsible administrator to investigate.
Include the asset identifier and work-order number when reporting the issue.
Multiple work orders affect the same asset #
When several work orders exist:
- Confirm which activity qualifies for the next-date calculation.
- Check the completion dates of relevant work orders.
- Review the maintenance type associated with each order.
- Confirm which schedule or interval applies.
- Ask the maintenance coordinator to review any conflicting records.
Avoid creating duplicate work orders to correct a maintenance date.
The date is unavailable #
If no next maintenance date is displayed:
- Confirm that scheduled maintenance applies to the asset.
- Check that a maintenance interval exists.
- Confirm that a qualifying work order has been completed.
- Review your permissions.
- Ask the AssetIQ administrator to review the asset configuration.
Some assets or maintenance activities may not require a next maintenance date.
Best practices #

- Use accurate actual completion dates.
- Maintain approved maintenance intervals.
- Avoid duplicate work orders.
- Report unexpected calculations promptly.
